Chandler - Science Cafés offer people, with or without a science background, the chance to discuss current topics with scientists in our community, in a casual setting. A scientist gives a brief presentation in plain language and sometimes shows a short video clip to kick off the discussion.

Do you enjoy looking at and even discussing the properties of the variety of brightly colorful lights?

Join us on a Christmas lights bus tour, hosted by the "REAL LONDON BUS" company. What better way to get in the festive spirit than viewing holiday lights from the upper level of a double decker bus! Both levels of the bus are enclosed (have closed windows). However, the bus is not heated, so you might want to bring a jacket.

During the bus tour, there will be holiday music, festive lighting, a Christmas tree, hot cocoa, mulled wine and, of course, jolly ol' Saint Nick himself. This is a family-friendly event.

We'll meet in the Boston Market restaurant at 6:45pm and then walk to the nearby bus pickup location.
The bus Pickup/dropoff location is at the light rail "Park and Ride" (at Central Ave and Camelback Rd). The bus will leave soon after 7pm, so don't be late.
Event time: 7pm-9pm.
Admission: adults--$20; kids under 18--$10 (cash only...pay as you board)

...........................................................................
For more info and comments from people who took the tour, see their Meetup webpage "all aboard the Real London Bus", or their website "RealLondonBus.com".

Let's attend this informal "Science Cafe" discussion, "Good to the Last Drop? The Water/Energy Connection".

"The next time you take a drink of water, consider where it came from. How did it get to you? It takes energy every step of the way. At the same time, generating energy - whether coal, hydro, solar, bio, or nuclear - may use vast amounts of water. With both things in limited supply, how can we make smart decisions for our water and energy future?"

GUESTS:

Dr. Steven Goodnick, Director, Arizona Institute for Renewable Energy (AIRE), Director, Arizona Institute for Nanoelectronics (AINE)

Dr. Tim Lant, Director of Research, The Decision Theater, Arizona State University
..........................................................................................

We'll meet at the entrance to the discussion room. I'll hold a small Meetup sign. After 5:15pm, the person at the info. desk will direct you to the discussion room.

Description:

Science Cafés are informal discussions that bring together members of the community and university scientists to discuss how science and technology can change the future. In a typical café, scientists speak for 15-20 minutes on a topic, with the rest of the time for the public to ask questions and raise concerns.
