We get together to discuss various topics in science and skepticism. Anything from recent science news to rants about the latest paranormal or pseudoscience scams. We are also considering some field trips to local museums and events. Everyone is welcome.
As you can see on the right of this text, this group doesn't have a group photo. Yes, I agree, we need to change that. So, if you have a suggestion, upload one or more pictures here:

I have recently graduated college with an engineering degree and found myself with...free time? It's a startling concept, but within this free time, I've started reading classics, philosophy and science books that I've been dying to discuss, but alas cannot find participants. That, my friend, is why this meetup exists! Hope there are others that enjoy reading a wide variety and range of topics that explore our physical, metaphysical and perhaps even pseudo-physical philosophies and theories. I'v …

The Great Books Reading Group is not a literature club. It is a discussion group that uses a multidisciplinary approach to learning and exploring the past and present. We are reading from the St. John's College Reading List. As we read foundational texts in the Western tradition, we examine mysticism, history, theology, the earth and physical sciences, mathematics, philosophy and government, as well as art, literature and music.
CFI–DC Drinking Skeptically is an informal social event designed to promote fellowship and networking among skeptics, critical-thinkers, and like-minded individuals. We are a group of writers who enjoy imaginative, perhaps even offbeat, fiction. Our goal is to write well--or at least better--but with the freedom to make mistakes. We are not here to necessarily produce polished, publishable fiction, but to rather to carve out a space where writers can experiment and have fun in a relaxed and supportive environment. Speculative fiction--which includes science fiction, horror, steampunk, dystopian fiction, and fantasy genres--allows writers of fiction an oppor …
